March 20, 2023 at 9:00 AMDue to the various datacenter issues we've had in the last couple of months at our current Frankfurt datacenter, we will be migrating our entire Frankfurt presence to our new SkyLink datacenter in Eygelshoven.
This migration will be conducted on the 20th of March starting at 10AM CET. We are expecting services to be unavailable throughout the majority of the day, lasting for at least 5 hours. The length of this downtime is mostly caused due to the amount of hardware and the physical distance between the datacenters. But rest assured, our new datacenter is still directly connected with DE-CIX (Frankfurt Internet Exchange) so there should not be any significant latency increases.
We will continue to use Combahton for all our IP-Transit. All our traffic will still be DDoS protected as it was until now. Furthermore, there should be no further impact in terms of server performance, IP's, …
What is noteworthy is that some servers will require reconfiguration as they are tower servers. These will be converted to rack servers instead. The core hardware itself (motherboard, CPU, RAM, Storage) will remain unchanged. A new chassis and new cooler will be installed in most servers. For our higher-end servers, improved water cooling will be introduced.
Our managed services will have a lesser impact. All workloads will be moved to our Amsterdam & Steenbergen datacenter before this migration so the impact should be minimal.
As usual, updates will be provided during the migration through our status page.
